2019 Junior Island Championship

The 2019 Cayman Islands Junior Championships was on May 11-12 at the North Sound Golf Club and featured 10 players ages from 11 to 18 in three divisions.

In the Girls 36-hole Championship, Holly Mclean, the current champion, defended her title with two scores of 77 and 75, for a total score over the two days of 152. The runner-up was Lauren Needham with a score of 163.

The Boys 36-hole Championship, from the Blue Tees, was closely contested with Aaron Jarvis edging out Justin Hastings to be crowned the Champion. Aaron shot two rounds of 68 to end up 6 under par for the tournament. Justin Hastings followed closely behind following 2 rounds of even par 71. Todd Purton finished 3rdafter scores of 85 and 84.

The Red Tee Tournament for the younger players was contested over 18-holes on the Sunday. Ben Croucher came out on top with a score of 84, followed closely by Sam Mclean with a score of 86.

During the trophy ceremony, the Cayman Islands Golf Association Junior Committee thanked the Junior Program sponsors for their support (RSM & JIKA Africa) and all the volunteers for their time. They also thanked the North Sound Club staff for the preparing of the course. All the junior golfers who took part were congratulated on the standard of play over the two days.
