DUBAI,
Nov 21 - Gulf News underlined its unflinching commitment to the development
of sports in the region by extending its support to the forthcoming Omega
Dubai Ladies Masters to be held at the Emirates Golf Club from December 7
to 12.
A leading news provider across multiple platforms,
using all available multimedia tools including radio and video, Gulf News
has become a household name in the region - and is no stranger to providing
a solid coverage to big sporting events.
The
largest circulated daily of the region has in fact become synonymous with
the high-profile sporting spectacles like the Dubai World Cup horse race
meeting, the Dubai Tennis Championships and, of course, the Dubai Desert
Classic, having been associated with them since their inception.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters this year boasts one the
strongest fields ever assembled for the euro 500,000 event on the
fast-growing Ladies European Tour.
In all a whopping 12 Solheim Cup players, including
Michelle Wie and British Open champion Catriona Matthew, will join a slew
of leading golfers, spearheaded by world number 10 In Kyung Kim, in what
promises to be an absorbing battle for honours at the Majlis course of the
Emirates Golf Club.
"Gulf News' contribution in promoting world-class
sporting activities in the UAE is second to none," said Mohamed Juma
Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAI, the promoters and
organisers of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.
"Being an official newspaper of our Dubai Desert
Classic, now renamed as the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, for many years,
Gulf News has also supported the premier ladies golf event since it made
its debut in Dubai in 2006 and that speaks volumes of their commitment in
promoting the fast-growing sport in the country," Buamaim said.
"We are delighted to have them in our family of
loyal partners who all have played a role in making our events
successful," he added. "We look forward to their continued
support to our tournaments."
Gulf News is equally delighted about its partnership
with golf in DUBAi. "Our association with golf in DUBAi demonstrates
our support to the sporting community in the UAE," said Duleep George,
Executive Director Marketing and Sales of Gulf News.
"We take pride in our solid coverage of the UAE
and Gulf regions and with a daily distribution of well over 130,000 we
continue with our dominance as leaders within the region. Now gulfnews.com
gives us the opportunity to extend our reach worldwide," he said.
"The website allows us to broadcast our regional
news internationally. With such a global reach, I am sure the golf in
DUBAI-promoted events will get the coverage they deserve," he added.
'golf in DUBAi' is backed by Omega as the title sponsor
and Dubal (Dubai Aluminium) as the sponsor while BMW, CNN, Emirates
Airline, Emirates NBD, Gulf News, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Jumeirah Hotels,
MasterCard and wasl are co-sponsors in its drive to showcase the emirate's
vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
